Yes, on the one hand, changes are coming to Grangeville Christian Church (GCC), but on the other hand much will still be the same: God is in His Heaven and in spite of much sin in our world, He still loves us and keeps His many promises; Jesus is still at the right hand of God waiting for the command to return to take believers home and He continues to hear our prayers and intercedes for us; the Holy Spirit is still active here on earth convincing men and women of “sin and righteousness and judgement” and He is also continuing to indwell believers enabling us to live the Faith in confidence and boldness.
Here at GCC during the week the telephones will still be answered and the staff and elders will continue in their ministry tasks. The doors of GCC will still be open on each Lord’s Day for the Lords’ teaching, fellowship, prayers and worship. True, there may be a different face behind the pulpit but the saving Gospel of salvation by grace through faith will continue to be proclaimed from the pulpit, we will continue to sing “hymns and songs and spiritual songs’ and we will continue to celebrate the Lord’s Supper until He comes again.
GCC has been in this community for almost 120 years. Both pastors and parishioners have come and gone and will continue to do so, hopefully for another 120 years or more or until the Lord returns. In the meantime, no matter who is leading, we must continue to be faithful to our God, to His Christ our Lord, and to His Church, praying “Oh, Thou who changest not, abide with me.” Jesus said “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
